Share of Cost, When is it not helpful to get a second opinion?

Sunday, Oct. 23rd 2016 8:03 AM

We been talking about the benefits of getting a second opinion on your dental care. In many cases, a person wants a second opinion when he or she lacks confidence in the dentist and has doubts about how best to treat their dental condition. However in some situations, it is the dentist who suggest getting a second opinion from a dental specialist in order to obtain additional information about a dental problem. Yet there are times when second opinions are not helpful, such as when they become a fourth, fifth, sixth opinion, or more. If you find yourself doing this then stop and think.  Are you getting so many different opinion because you hope to hear a different answer then what the last five dentist have told you? If you keep hearing the same thing from each dentist, but hope to hear something different, when you finally hear what you want to hear from the six or seventh dentist, it may not be in your best interest.

Share of Cost, How to Deal with Fire Ant Bites

Sunday, Oct. 23rd 2016 6:00 AM

Home remedies for fire ant bites

Most people don’t need medical treatment for fire ant bites. If breathing is normal and the bite victim is not known to have a serious ant bite allergy, the following home remedies can be effective:

* Applying cold compresses to reduce swelling – 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off

* Using a hydrocortisone cream on the skin to relieve itching

* Taking an antihistamine to manage minor, localized allergic reactions and itching

* Applying a triple antibiotic ointment to the stings can help prevent infection in bites that have been opened by scratching

* Taking an oatmeal bath to reduce itching

It is important to resist the urge to scratch the bites. Scratching can open the blisters and cause infection.

Share of Cost, How health affects the flu shot

Wednesday, Oct. 19th 2016 6:48 AM

The flu shot seems to work better in adults and older children. People over the age of 65 tend to have weaker immune systems, and the shot may be less effective for them. Children under the age of 2 and people with long-term health conditions may also have a lower response to the shot and receive less protection.

Experts still say that the shot offers some protection and should be recommended for these groups, especially because they are most likely to suffer serious complications from the flu.

Share of Cost, Problems of Implant Dental Insurance

Saturday, Oct. 15th 2016 6:45 AM

Pre-Existing Conditions

Many insurance companies offer implant coverage, but their are waiting periods prior to dental implant insurance coverage. They might offer detailed implant coverage, but you may have to be on the policy for a year or more before they will cover it, and they will not cover implants due to pre-existing conditions which you had prior to the policy. Please read your policy carefully or contact your insurance agent.

It is crucial to read any dental insurance policy that you have thoroughly before signing up for implant surgery. You may find that the insurance plan will not cover it for one reason or another. At that point, you will have to decide if the surgery is going to be possible on your current budget.

Share of Cost, Pregnant women and the flu shot

Thursday, Oct. 13th 2016 5:43 AM

The flu shot is safe and highly recommended for pregnant women. It can be given anytime during pregnancy. Pregnant women may be more likely to have serious complications of the flu due to a higher strain on the heart, lungs, and immune system.

A study in the New England Journal of Medicine suggests that the mother may pass some of the protection on to her unborn baby. Because babies cannot get the flu shot until they are 6 months old, this benefit may be helpful.

Share of Cost, If You Loose A Permanent Tooth

Sunday, Oct. 9th 2016 10:40 AM

Either Due To An Accident Or Tooth Decay

There is not much medically that can be done to replace the missing tooth. If it is lost due to an accident, and the tooth is recovered quickly enough, you can sometimes have it reattached, but often too much time passes between the loss of the tooth and getting the person to a doctor or dentist. Often, the only choice for those who need to replace a tooth is a dental implant.

Dental implants are artificial roots for a tooth that is placed in your mouth and attached to a replacement tooth or a bridge. They do not rest on other teeth to support the replacement tooth, but rather are rooted into the gums. They are extremely naturalistic, and those who receive dental implants often do not even notice a difference in their oral function after the surgery has healed.

Dental implants are a great substitute for dentures and bridge work. They are secure, and do not feel or look fake. The only problem with the procedure is the high dental implant cost. That is where dental insurance for implants comes into play.

Share of Cost, When should you get a second dental opinion.

Wednesday, Oct. 5th 2016 6:37 AM

In a prior post we talked about how if you feel like you should get a second dental opinion on dental treatment then you probably should. After all getting a second opinion may also provide peace of mind about the dental services needed. However, it may not make best sense to get a second option for every little cavity or other minor dental health care issues.  Here are a few reasons why you may want to seek out a second opinion.

* Your dentist has diagnosed a major health care problem, such as oral cancer.

* Your dentist has provided dental work, but it is not fixing your problem.

* You are unsure if the recommended treatment is necessary, or you are concerned about costs.

* You feel that your dentist is not qualified to treat your major dental health problems.

* You do not have good rapport with your current dentist.

Share of Cost, Does Dental Insurance Cover Dental Implants

Monday, Oct. 3rd 2016 6:35 AM

 What Is The Cost

Dental implant insurance is any dental insurance policy that covers the cost of dental implants. Many dental insurance providers do offer implant insurance, but often it is more expensive than insurance without implant coverage, and there are other considerations you need to make before signing up for the surgery. Coverage under your medical plan may be possible, depending on the insurance plan and/or cause of tooth loss.

Detailed questions about your individual needs and how they relate to insurance should be discussed with your dentist and your insurance provider. Before you sign up for dental implant surgery, you need to make sure that your dental insurance plan has dental implant insurance. Dental insurance does not automatically come with insurance for implants. If you are uncertain, please read your policy or check with your insurance provider.

The cost of dental implants without insurance coverage, dental implant insurance to be exact, can cause significant problems for your family’s budget!
